Index Mutual Funds

Index funds are those mutual funds which seek to replicate performance of a specific index or a financial market sector. An index fund normally holds all securities in the same proportion as held by its benchmark index. Equity index funds that follow broader indices (like S&P CNX Nifty) are less risky than equity index funds that follow narrow sectoral indices (like CNX Bank Index etc.).
