Formerly known as IDBI-PRINCIPAL Mutual Fund, Principal Mutual Fund was established by Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) in 1994. The mutual fund is sponsored by Principal Financial Services Inc. USA through its subsidiary Principal Financial Group (Mauritius) Limited. Principal (65% stake) added Punjab National Bank (30% stake) and Vijaya Bank (5% stake) into the venture in 2004.
